In the 2022 Election, Commit to Keiki focused on educating gubernatorial candidates, including Governor Josh Green, about the challenges faced by Hawai‘i’s youngest children and their families. Commit to Keiki held virtual forums and met with primary and general election candidates, and sponsored two televised candidate forums. Commit to Keiki sought to ensure that the gubernatorial candidates would be informed about our concerns and develop a path forward to ensure a brighter future for Hawai‘i’s youngest children.
Following the general election, Commit to Keiki met with Governor Green, First Lady, and Tia Hartsock (Executive Director of the Governor’s Office on Wellness and Resilience) to discuss his priorities.
During Commit to Keiki’s meetings with Governor Green, he shared his vision of ensuring that Hawai‘i’s children lead a happy, healthy, trauma-free life. He also expressed his commitment to reducing homelessness and providing affordable housing, providing universal access to preschool for 3- and 4-year-olds, adopting paid family leave, and implementing universal screenings to ensure developmental issues are detected early, such as his own hearing challenges.
